The Atrium project within the Galleria Mall in Abu Dhabi represents a sophisticated and dynamic retail and leisure space, designed to elevate the customer experience while incorporating the latest advancements in architecture, safety, and sustainability. The mall features a wide range of luxury retail outlets, entertainment facilities, and dining options, all housed within a modern, high-tech structure. The architectural design centres around an expansive atrium that serves as the focal point of the building, creating an inviting and open atmosphere.

Design Confidence played a crucial role in enhancing the safety, comfort, and overall engineering integrity of the Atrium and Galleria Mall. As a trusted engineering consultancy, Design Confidence provided expert advisory services that covered various critical aspects of the project:

Design Confidence conducted a comprehensive review of the fire and life safety systems, ensuring that they met stringent local and international codes. This included fire safety modeling, smoke control strategies, and evacuation planning to guarantee the safety of mall visitors in case of an emergency. The engineering team collaborated with architects and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of these systems into the mall's innovative design.

Given the mall's size and varied usage spaces, the engineering team at Design Confidence ensured that the thermal comfort of occupants was optimized. They provided expert analysis and recommendations for efficient HVAC systems, balancing energy efficiency with the need for a comfortable environment across the retail, dining, and entertainment zones.

In line with modern design trends, Design Confidence's team also contributed to achieving sustainability goals. They provided strategic advice on energy-efficient systems, utilizing advanced modeling techniques to predict energy consumption and reduce the building's environmental impact.

As part of the mall’s user-centred design, Design Confidence conducted detailed pedestrian comfort and flow analysis. This allowed for better space planning, ensuring smooth circulation and a pleasant experience for visitors throughout the Atrium and other areas of the mall.

Throughout the development process, Design Confidence provided on-site consulting to resolve complex engineering challenges, advising on the integration of systems such as lighting, acoustics, and structural elements, ensuring they worked in harmony with the architectural vision.
